The name was born out of humor.  We like to dress in our boots and hats in daily life.  After some good joking around, we began calling ourselves cattlemen.  When our mission became a real idea, the only logical name for us was the 'Rio Cattlemen's Association'.  If you speak Latin you may notice our motto, "Omnis Petasum, Non Pecudes".  It roughly translates to, "All hat, no cattle".  If the Shriner's can wear fez hats and drive small cars, then we can wear our boots and cowboy hats.
